Happy Saturday! It's been
a while but for a good cause. Friday was a day of packing and last minute stuff as we flew off yesterday to
New Orleans for a little One year anniversary vacation. Monday we will boarding a ship for a 5 day cruise but had to hang out in New Orleans for a few days since we've never been and obviously being a foodie, the food is a huge draw.
Friday I made sure to make some muffins to take on the trip. They came in handy especially during our three hour layover at LAX. It saved a big hassle of having to figure out a decent snack and saves some money!
We were hungry almost right after we got to Sky Harbor (airport) so decided on Wendy's. I haven't had Wendy's in probably seven years. Naturally I went for the grilled chicken sandwich.
Once we landed at LAX we were ready for dinner. There wasn't a lot to choose from on our terminal so we opted for this little deli-fridge by
Wolfgang Puck that had various salads, sandwiches and drinks. We both went for the Pesto chicken sandwich. We were shocked when it rang up to be $20 for two little sandwiches but they ended up being satisfying and flavorful.
This morning we woke up and knew what was up first,
Beignets! Having done some research and hearing from word of mouth, we both were set on getting these infamous pastries. The plan was to go to a different place but the line was way too long and we were hungry so went next door to a place also serving them. They were the best pastry I've had ever. Light, fluffy and melt in your mouth delicious.
We both ate all three Beignets plus coffee. We followed it up with walking about a mile back to our hotel.
The rest of the day we ate more, walked around and did a game of penny slots. We had a authentic New Orleans dinner as well that I'll share later.
Have a good night!
New Orleans beignets!!! It's always been a dream of mine to try one (or three), but first I need to find my way to New Orleans. I'm so glad you were able to explore the city before boarding the cruise ship. Can't wait to hear more about your trip! Happy anniversary! xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! My husband and I were just talking about getting back to New Orleans--we haven't been there in years. It's such an interesting area! Enjoy the cruise!!
ReplyDeleteAwww FUN! I love NOLA! Every time we've been there it has been a great experience! Cafe du Monde is our favorite place for beignets, but then honestly... we didn't try them anywhere else so they are probably just as good elsewhere, haha! Also, there's a place called Parkway Tavern and Bakery... best po'boys EVER! They have a surf and turf po'boy that sounds gross, but is so unbelievably delicious! Haha! Sorry, I'm done now. We just really love the food there! ;)
