Edmonds, Carnation, Duvall and Monroe, Washington

To round out our last few days in Seattle we went to a few little towns nearby and enjoyed some outdoors. One day we went to Edmonds, Washington which was on the water and had small town feel with all kinds of shops and cafés.

A few days later we went for a drive through Carnation, Duvall and Monroe, Washington. They are only about 30 minutes from Seattle but the drive goes through farmland, countryside, creeks and natural beauty. First we stopped at a Farm called Remlinger Farms and though it was closed we still got to see some of the farm and it's beautiful layout and scenery.

We continued the scenic drive through valleys, creeks and pastures. It brought me back to my home state of Minnesota with all the tress, farmland and water. As much as the convenience of the city/suburbs is nice I always feel so at peace when visiting 'the country'.

After arriving at our second destination, Duvall we decided to have Mexican food at Ixtapa Restaurant for lunch. Ironically we were all in the mood for Mexican food which rarely happens in Arizona. To be honest I was a little skeptical but after trying the salsa there was no turning back. We couldn't stop eating it. As to get in my veggies I ordered the shrimp fajita for a meal.

As we were finishing up the last 30 minutes of the drive, the most surreal rainbow appeared. I couldn't imagine a better way to bring in the New Year and end our trip.
