Sunday -

Today we went on a hike and it felt so good! It reminded me how much I need to give myself some time to just be outside and take a minute from everyday life. It was a good workout both physically and mentally. It is so vital to give ourselves at least a little time per week away from the noise of our everyday lives.

What I learned from this week in workouts:

As you can see, I have cut back on cardio. It was a stretch from my comfort level but so vital. I was not putting on any muscle and my body was just so fatigued when I was doing all that cardio with the strength training. It was unsustainable, which is one key factor I strive for in my workouts. I don't want to be doing something that will only last for a little bit. If I'm going to strength train, I'm looking at the long term. Our bodies aren't made for those up and down, yo-yo type programs.

In striving for sustainability, the word balance is a huge component. I can not have all my eggs in the strength training basket nor cardio. Right now my method for this is cutting back on the cardio albeit still doing some.

I'm feeling much better this week and have made gains so evidently the cardio cut-back has been beneficial! My goal is treat my body with the respect and love it deserves. We are here on this Earth for a purpose and I want mine to last and be able to live well and strong.

Happy working out!

  1. Great post! I love honest look at what's going on and what you are trying to do to work on it. I am in the process of reducing my cardio in favor of strength training, too! :)
